Prudence "Prudie" Paynter was a servant in the Nampara Household, alongside her husband Jud Paynter.

Biography[]

Serving Ross[]

In March 1783, Prudie and her husband Jud were servants at Nampara House when Joshua Poldark died. Because Ross Poldark was presumed dead, they took control of Nampara House and lived there. In September, Ross got home and found the house in ruin.[1]

He shouted at Jud and Prudie for living in the house and the next day, demanded they tidy the house up.[1]

Prudie is lazy and is happy when Demelza comes and does her chores. When Ross and Demelza get married Prudie and her husband Jud are present. At first Prudie doesn't like the marriage because she thinks that Demelza will act above her. Eventually Prudie accepts it and becomes a good friend to Demelza.
