Wheal Grambler was a mine owned by Charles Poldark and later Francis Poldark, who drove the mine into debt and closed it down. He later gambled and lost the mine to George Warleggan.

In September 1783, the mining industry was failing and in decline. The miners at Wheal Grambler were being given lows wages by Charles Poldark and a few wanted to leave if Ross Poldark brought back Wheal Leisure.[1]
